Games
I have long been interested in a variety of role playing and computer games. I like to play these games as a way to blow off steam and also to spend time with my friends.
Role Playing Games
I have been interested in roll playing games since I was 15 years old. The games I have played include: Dungeons & Dragons, ShadowRun, Rifts, CyberPunk, Paranoia and MechWarrior. Of these D&D and ShadowRun are my favorites.
I was first introduced to D&D by my uncle Sid who has a very vivid imagination and a unique style as a DM. I have played all sorts of characters over the years. My favorite characters tend to be bezerkers and thieves. Bezerkers are fun because when they go into combat, they loose control and there is no telling who they will try to attack (friend or enemy)! Thieves are fun because you get to be sneaky, disarm traps, climb walls, back stab and pick locks.
As for ShadowRun IT'S A BLAST!!! (No pun intended.) I like playing riggers and deckers. Deckers are the best because they deal with jacking into computers and running around in a virtual world known as the Matrix (Gee, kinda sounds like the Internet on VRML, doesn't it?) However, riggers are fun because they control the most firepower in a fight with the exception of a good power mage. Riggers are also fun because I am a gadget monger and riggers have all kinds of really cool gadgets (drones, remote control devices, customized vehicles, etc.).
Computer Games
The main types of computer games I enjoy are fantasy adventure (D&D style) and 3D shooters.
Over the last 2 decades, I've played a wide variety of fantasy adventure games. My favorites were the Ultima series, the Might and Magic series, Betrayal at Krondor, and the Baldur's Gate series. BGII is by far the best made computer rpg I've ever played. The plotline is well thought out and the playability and action is very well done. It's one of those games where you actually get attached to (or disgusted with) the characters you encounter.
Although I do like the fantasy rpg style games, I'm also interested in 3D shooters. The main reason is online play. All of the 3D shooters I like can be played over the internet. The ones I enjoy the most are team based. Team Fortress (TF) and it's newer versions, TF Classic and Quake 3 Fortress are the ultimate in online gaming.
I have been playing TF since it's inception in late 96'. TF is a mod update for Quake that has changed the online 3D gaming world as we know it. For the first time in 3D shooter history, TEAMS come together to fight as a unit giving us an alternative to the standard deathmatch! The next evolution in the fight against deathmatch chaos was won by Valve Software and Team Fortress Software (creators of the original TF). Team Fortress Classic did for Half-Life what Team Fortress did for Quake. The latest incarnation of TF is again made by ID Software and TF Software. Quake 3 Fortress! The gameplay is much the same as it's predecessors but the graphics, network code, and weapons are far superior! Q3F even boasts a much improved scripting system for writing aliases.
